H.G. Sankarshan das Adhikari, USA: Sunday 22 May 2011--Are You Possessed by Your Possessions?--and--What Can I Learn from a Toothache?
A daily broadcast of the Ultimate Self Realization Course Sunday 22 May 2011 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, and His eternal consort, Srimati Radharani are enjoying transcendental pastimes in the topmost planet of the spiritual world, Sri Goloka Vrindavan. They are beckoning us to rejoin them. (Click on photo to see a larger image.) Our Mission: To help everyone awaken their original Krishna consciousness, which is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Such a global awakening will, in one stroke, solve all the problems of the world society bringing in a new era of unprecedented peace and prosperity for all. May that day, which the world so desperately needs, come very soon. We request you to participate in this mission by reviving your dormant Krishna consciousness and assisting us in spreading this science all over the world. Dedicated with love to ISKCON Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our beloved spiritual master, and to you, our dear readers. Today's Thought: Are You Possessed by Your Possessions? Uploaded from Bhaktivedanta Ashram--Austin, Texas USA Do you possess your possessions, or do your possessions possess you? As a matter of fact, if you think that you possess them, you are possessed by them. Only when you see them as the property of the Lord by engaging them all in His service are you rightly situated beyond possessiveness. Lord Krishna confirms in the Bhagavad-gita that He is the owner of everything. Therefore any person who thinks himself to be the owner of anything is in illusion. Such a person has only one possession, the false conception that he is the owner. And the person who engages everything in Krishna's service has only possession, Krishna. Which of these two possessions would you prefer to possess? Sankarshan Das Adhikari Prabhupada Teaches Us Who is the Real Owner http://www.backtohome.com/images/Prabhupada/spdesk.jpg Answers According to the Vedic Version: Question: What Can I Learn from a Toothache? Dear Gurudeva, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I currently have a serious toothache. What lesson should I learn from this? And what can I do about it? Your unworthy servant I.D. Answer: It's an Impetus for Attaining Your Svarupa I am sorry to hear about your serious toothache and hope that you will be feeling better soon. For toothache, Srila Prabhupada recommends: For your toothache trouble, you can brush your teeth with the following mixture; common salt, 1 part, and pure mustard oil, quite sufficient to make it a suitable paste. With this paste brush your teeth, especially the painful part, very nicely. Gargle in hot water, and keep always some cloves in your mouth. I think that will cure your troubles. It doesn't require to extract any teeth. The lesson to be learned from a toothache is that you are not your material body. By this toothache you are burning off the reactions from previous sinful activities. So instead of being disturbed you should feel grateful that Krishna is freeing you from your past karma to help you become qualified for returning to His eternal abode. He is reminding you that you are not your body and giving you impetus for attaining your svarupa, your original spiritual form in the spiritual sky. Toronto Sankirtan Team, CA: In search for Kali
Sun was out and about and I was trying to reach out to people with Srila Prabhupada's books when this young man walked up to me and said he was a fan of Kali and he was looking for a book on her. He wanted to know her and asked me 'Do you have a book on Kali?'. Remembering Vaisesika Prabhu's instruction that no matter what the person says, say we have a book and keep handing them out. So I said ' Yes, I have a book on Kali'. As I said this I was wondering which book was I going to give him and that's when he said if he could get that book and wanted to see it? So i told him to wait and I need to look into my bag. So I started to look into my bag with no idea what I was looking for. Then i asked him to come with me to Urbanedgeyoga so I could get him the book on Kali. And there we were walking up to Urbanedgeyoga talking about Kali and I had no idea what I was going to show him. I was simply praying to Krishna for help and as we entered Urbanedgeyoga, I asked Sam to pass me the Krishna book. As I was asking for Krishna book, I had no idea how I would connect Krishna book to Kali but I thought lets keep praying and Krishna will do something. So very bravely I opened the Krishna book and it opened right at the picture where Durga devi is seen slipping out of Kamsa's hand and in her eight arm form. Thrilled I told him, here is Kali. He was very happy and gvae me a donation for the book. As he was leaving, with Krishna book in his hand he said, I am an atheist and off he went with Krishna.• Email to a friend • •

Japa Group: I Wanted To Chant Like A Lover
I wanted to chant with care in my moral and spiritual feelings toward Nama Prabhu. Seeing Radha-Govinda helped because They are tenderness personified. I wanted to chant like a lover. I chanted in a subdued way, because I had to because of my head. But it also lent itself towards feelings of warmth and sympathy, gentle and delicate. One should handle the holy name in that way. It was a nice feeling. I’d like to always chant in that way.

Toronto Sankirtan Team, CA: 2 years later
I was speaking to someone outside Urbanedgeyoga about a book and he was about to buy it when this short man with braided hair walked up to us and said, does this place still have yoga classes and does someone by the name of 'Mangal-arti' stll work here. I told him I was Mangal-arti and he said he had bought a book from me two years ago but did not have enough money at that time. So I invited him upstairs and he started to explain re his experiences and search in life. He took out a 20 dollar bill and said he wanted to pay for the book he had taken two years ago and he also took a Krishna book. He sat and spoke with us a really long time and I was wondering, how wonderful is the attractive force of 'Krishna'...just by association with Srila Prabhupada's books, this man remembered my name even two years later and came back to get his second book.

Toronto Sankirtan Team, CA: Is it just a matter of chance ?
I had just reached Kensington and started to give out cards when I met these two really interesting people. They were friends and the guy said he was really interested in Yoga and meditation and I handed them each a book. Initially I handed him a chant and be happy and her Bhagavad gita. She said it was too much for her to read and he said he really liked to read a lot so I got them to exchange the books. Then I started to show them the inside of Bhagavad gita and he simply fell for the book. Then I started to show her the chant and be happy and he started to say he was a fan of George Harrison. So he asked to get a copy of Chant and be happy and she said she wanted a Gita. This was turning into fun and then I found that they had both just purchased meditation beads and they really wanted to meditate. I told them I would give them meditation cookies and they were so excited. Turns out the girl was from Melbourne, Australia where I lived for a few years and she was leaving back for down under in a few hours. The guy had been looking for Bhagavad gita in Canada (originally from New York) and his expression was of complete disbelief and excitement. They told us they would join us for meditation later and I didn’t know. Later on in the evening as the time came to leave, I texted him asking if he wanted to connect again and they both said they were going to come back and join us. I saw them outside grocery store and they walked with us (Shyama-mohini leading Kirtan) to park where we meditated for some time chanting Hare Krishna in unison. As I was finally leaving, he told me he wasn’t going to come for meditation but I saw them outside the store and they just had to come then. He said he would come to Urbanedge and I request that we all sincerely pray that he does.
It is very amazing to witness these amazing pastimes of Lord Chaitanya and how he gets us all together at the right place with the right stuff.• Email to a friend • •

Rupa Madhurya das, TX, USA: Lecture - Grantharaj Prabhu - SB 10.2.17 - Meaning of dham
Lecture on Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 10, Chapter 2, Text 17 titled "Meaning of dham" given by Grantharaj Prabhu.
This series of lectures was given during the 2011 TP/GBC Meetings held here in Dallas.
Dallas, TX
2011-01-31TRANSLATION
While carrying the form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead within the core of his heart, Vasudeva bore the Lord's transcendentally illuminating effulgence, and thus he became as bright as the sun. He was therefore very difficult to see or approach through sensory perception. Indeed, he was unapproachable and unperceivable even for such formidable men as Kamsa, and not only for Kamsa but for all living entities.
PURPORT
The word dhāma is significant. Dhāma refers to the place where the Supreme Personality of Godhead resides. In the beginning of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam (1.1.1) it is said, dhāmnā svena sadā nirasta-kuhakaḿ satyaḿ paraḿ dhīmahi. In the abode of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, there is no influence of material energy (dhāmnā svena sadā nirasta-kuhakam). Any place where the Supreme Personality of Godhead is present by His name, form, qualities or paraphernalia immediately becomes a dhāma. For example, we speak of Vṛndāvana-dhāma, Dvārakā-dhāma and Mathurā-dhāma because in these places the name, fame, qualities and paraphernalia of the Supreme Godhead are always present. Similarly, if one is empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead to do something, the core of his heart becomes a dhāma, and thus he becomes so extraordinarily powerful that not only his enemies but also people in general are astonished to observe his activities. Because he is unapproachable, his enemies are simply struck with wonder, as explained here by the words durāsado 'tidurdharsaḥ.
The words pauruṣaḿ dhāma have been explained by various ācāryas. Śrī Vīrarāghava Ācārya says that these words refer to the effulgence of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Vijayadhvaja says that they signify viṣṇu-tejas, and Śukadeva says bhagavat-svarūpa. The Vaiṣṇava-toṣaṇī says that these words indicate the influence of the Supreme Lord's effulgence, and Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura says that they signify the appearance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Subhavilasa das ACBSP, Toronto, CA: The Peace Formula
Everyone wants peace in the world. The peace marchers do not know how to obtain peace, but they want peace. I read a speech of the Archbishop of Canterbury in which he said, "You want the kingdom of God without God." This is our defect.
If you want peace at all, then accept that peace means to understand God. That is stated in the Bhagavad-gita. Unless you are in touch with the Supreme Lord, Krsna, you cannot have peace. Therefore, we have a different peace formula. The real peace formula is that one must know that God is the proprietor of all this universe, including the United States of America. He is the proprietor of Russia, He is the proprietor of China, He is the proprietor of India, of everything. But because we claim that we are the proprietors, there is fighting, there is discord, there is disagreement, and how can there be peace? First of all, one has to accept that God is the proprietor of everything.

H.H. Satsvarupa das Goswami (Ret.): 317—poem for May 21
4:20 A.M.
A Writer of Pieces
New format—I will begin with a poem written on the day of its printing. Then I will print random excerpts of books I have printed over the last 35 years. I hope this variety will be pleasing.
Poem for May 21
Finished your rounds in
less than two hours and
before 3:00 A.M. The early
bird catches the worm. I
dispatched them with attention
to the numerical count. Don’t
bash me for that.Yesterday all afternoon was
a storm, thunder rolls and
blowing rain and leaves,
we had to cancel our walk.
All day I rested with a chest
cold and didn’t do much.
I was impressed that Baladeva
ate two karela sandwiches along
with his kitri and salad.
I ate less.
I’m taking a break from the
autobiog. and didn’t finish
my drawing. Just watched
the Yankee game on Encore. We read about Vidura’s pilgrim’s
progress. He did better not to
stay at home but to wander
unnoticed and just depending on
God. He visited the tirthas and
was fortunate to meet the great
devotee of Krishna, Sri Uddhava.
He asked him questions about
the Lord. At first Uddhava
could not reply, he lost
his equilibrium just thinking
in separation of His beloved. As you see, this simple lay
draws from my day
in a quiet life.
It tries to sing a simple
song. It wants to dovetail
the words in Krishna’s service
by praising Him, the Adhoksaja,
yet He’s with us in His
names and simple contemplation
on His forms and pastimes.
A song is offered by a
small devotee who
doesn’t deviate but
concentrates upon the
Lord in bhakti-yoga.
It’s not Srimad-Bhagavatam
but literature in pursuance
of the Vedic version,
made in our ashram
and aimed at Him.• Email to a friend • •
H.H. Satsvarupa das Goswami (Ret.): OLD FRIENDS
From Japa Reform Notebook
“He hopes in early morning that he will finger his beads in the quiet room, and yet his dreams indicate his roaming mind.
‘The holy name is Krishna Himself’; he knows this is true; he has known it for over a decade.
“Far away he hears a train, nearby a sound; some moving; his right hand enters the string of beads, and thumb and forefinger grip the first one with instant hope.
“Chanting with offense cannot produce the relish of the pure holy name but only the shadow of the name. ‘That is what I can expect,’ he thinks, but he knows the Name’s power can overcome him. Great saints also in sacred quarters like the courtyard of Radha-Damodara temple, Srila Prabhupada beneath a mosquito net in his room in Bombay at 3:00 A.M., having just dictated the Bhagavatam purports—great saints chant. And so another devotee chants in their footsteps, peacefully bowing to the order of the guru and knowing in his heart that it is true. He would rather die than abandon this. But it has been years; still his mind and habits prevent the pure name from entering his ears.
“Even the shadow of the name brings liberation, just as the first rays of the dawn chase away the ghosts and thieves of the night. ‘Yet still I live in the shadow of the name,’ he thinks. ‘Should I even aspire to rise? Let me first try to stay awake, free of illicit desire, properly pronouncing Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare/ Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. Even I can be transformed.’
“The beads of wood pass through his fingers; japa begins for the tiny jiva, pacing and calling out to Krishna in predawn solitude.
“It cleans the heart of the dust accumulated for many lifetimes; it extinguishes the fire of repeated birth and death. It is not so easy. But even a shadow name uttered by a shadow devotee, even the first step, counts a million times better than anything else.
“He has the beads properly in his hands and the Name on his lips. He walks, but tires. But if he sits, he sleeps. They say even the beginner is engaged in love of God, just as an unripe mango is a mango, even though not like the ripened mango. Tired, he sits, nods, and discovers that his mind has traveled throughout the universe of human and subhuman desires. He slaps at his mental image and his attention returns to the Name. But this corrective act is performed ad infinitum—where is the hope that it will permanently correct him. Even if he has no such hope, still there is the corrective slap, again, and he has a willingness and a firm resolve to correct again and again. Back to the Name, back to Godhead.
“Just the utterance will save him, as it saved Ajamila. He pours out so many names, all imperfect from the chanter, like poorly-manufactured products from a defective assembly line—and yet each name retains its perfection.
“He is confused at his own unwilling recitation of names; he is illusioned by false ego, totters and seeks physical rest. ‘When will I ever succeed?’
“He is like a mountain climber. He gropes a hand forward and tries to lift his body, depending on the firmness of the thin ledge above. His foot probes, looking for a safe ledge below, as he continues his upward climb through the sheer height of the mind. The rope around his waist is held firmly far above by the Lord, who is personally lifting the soul—then why is it so difficult?
“He chants as a watchman does his rounds, guarding the property. Happy in his duties. Guarding to make sure his voice utters only the Name. And with his watchman’s searchlight, he constantly pierces into the darkness of the wandering mind, as a watchman, he does his rounds.
“Guides of the holy name, please grant the extra spark of mercy to the slow chanters of Your holy names! Ah, but You have already done this! Lord Caitanya has gone to unlimited lengths to deliver us by this easiest and sublime method. It is up to us. Now, if we refuse! No, it is unspeakable. We must accept—we will not remain so fallen.
“The Vaisnava poet declares that he must have been cursed by Yamaraja and therefore he has no taste for devotional practice. It is also true that Prabhupada has come and rescued us from our own distaste for bhakti. By his chanting and dancing we are attracted, and by his order we go on patiently placing the maha-mantra on our heads and aspiring to serve him.”
From Living with the Scriptures
“Srila Prabhupada’s ‘Favorite’ Verse
“‘All occupational engagements are certainly meant for ultimate liberation. They should never be performed for material gain. Furthermore, according to sages, one who is engaged in the ultimate occupational service should never use material gain to cultivate sense gratification.’ (Bhag. 1.2.9)
“Did Srila Prabhupada actually have a favorite sastric verse? Was there a verse he considered most important? That’s what Professor Thomas Hopkins wanted to find out when he met with Srila Prabhupada in June 1975 at the ISKCON temple in Philadelphia.
“Professor Hopkins had always been favorable to the Krishna consciousness movement, and so his meeting with Srila Prabhupada was mellow and learned. As a scholar of Hinduism, Professor Hopkins asked Prabhupada interesting questions, drawing out Prabhupada’s realized knowledge of the Vedic conclusions.
“‘I am collecting material for a sourcebook of readings in Hinduism,’ said Professor Hopkins, ‘contemporary as well as classical, and I would like to include in these readings some of the things which you have written. Of that which you have written, what do you consider most important?’
“‘Prema pum-artho mahan,’ Srila Prabhupada replied. ‘The most important thing is how to love God.’
“Professor Hopkins asked where in Prabhupada’s writings did that message of love of God come out most clearly. At first Prabhupada replied, ‘Vedanta philosophy.’ But the professor, looking for a favorite section which he could publish, asked Prabhupada exactly in what published book that most important message could be found.
“‘Srimad-Bhagavatam,’ Srila Prabhupada replied.
“Now that he had narrowed it down to twelve cantos of the Bhagavatam, Professor Hopkins asked, ‘Which of those books do you consider to be the most important?’
“‘Well, beginning with the First Canto,’ said Srila Prabhupada. ‘Janmady asya yatah. Go step by step. First of all read the Bhagavad-gita nicely. Then when we get an idea of the Absolute Truth, then we can study Srimad-Bhagavatam more and more.
“‘But is there any one of the translations or one of the purports or series of purports that you have published that you think is more clear, more . . .’
“‘Every sloka we are describing word for word,’ said Srila Prabhupada. ‘So in every sloka you will find new ideas. There are 18,000 verses.’
“Professor Hopkins laughed. ‘I would react the same way,’ he said, ‘if anyone asked me a question like that.’ But keeping his proposed book of readings in mind, and wanting a special selection from Srila Prabhupada, Professor Hopkins asked his question again.
“‘If you were speaking to someone who was going to collect one small section of your work, what would you like him to collect?’
“‘That is stated in two verses,’ said Prabhupada, and he signaled to his secretary: ‘Can you find out that book? Dharmasya hy apavargasya nartho ’rthayopakalpate. The first thing is that people should become religious.’ Srila Prabhupada then launched into an explanation of the Bhagavata philosophy regarding dharma, artha, kama and moksa. According to Srimad Bhagavatam, human civilization begins only when there is dharma or religion, and religion should be pursued not for material benefit but for becoming liberated from the material condition.’
“When his secretary had found the verse and purport, Prabhupada asked that he read the purport. The disciple read aloud, and the written purport resembled what Prabhupada had just spoken extemporaneously: ‘One should not engage himself in any sort of occupational service for material gain only. Nor should material gain be utilized for sense gratification. How material gain should be utilized is described as follows.’
“After the purport had been read, Srila Prabhupada continued speaking. ‘People are after material gain,’ he said. ‘They have no spiritual information as to what is the need for spiritual realization. They do not know. Therefore they have been described as mudhas, fools and rascals, those who are after material gain.’
“‘Do you think then,’ asked Professor Hopkins, ‘that that message is the most important message that you have to convey?’
“‘That is the most important message, ‘ said Srila Prabhupada, ‘because you are not this material body.’
“Srila Prabhupada was preaching. And specifically, he was speaking to a professor in America. At another time and place, perhaps he would have picked another verse as ‘the most important message.’ As he had mentioned earlier, every word of the 18,000 verses of Srimad Bhagavatam is absolute and perfect, but as a preacher, according to person, time and place, he had picked out an important verse.
“The Bhagavatam verse beginning dharmasya hy apavargasya was most important because it stressed a very basic point—the real identity of the self and the real purpose of religion. Unless one understood those basic things, how could he go on to anything else ‘more important’? Since throughout the whole material world (and Prabhupada had personally seen most of it) almost everyone was engaged in taking care of the body, and no one knew the nature of spirit soul, the most important thing was to provide education about the self.
“‘Therefore,’ said Srila Prabhupada, ‘in your country, in every country, it is blind education, no spiritual enlightenment.
“‘What is the solution?’ asked Professor Hopkins. ‘Devotion to God?’
“‘First of all, do you know what is spirit,’ replied Srila Prabhupada. ‘Then as soon as you know you are spirit, then, “Where from the spirit comes?” Or “Where from everything comes?” When you ask that, then you can come to the question of God, and then we understand what is our relationship with God. And if we act according to that, then we will find perfect life.’
“‘So you would then see the Bhagavad-gita as a guide to understand?’ said Professor Hopkins.
“Prabhupada agreed and said that the very first lessons of Bhagavad-gita beginning in Chapter Two were given to Arjuna because he was lamenting in the bodily concept of life.
“Although Professor Hopkins had managed to secure a ‘most important verse’ from Srila Prabhupada, he could see that the discussion could not be contained to the selection of an author’s favorite. Srila Prabhupada was not a connoisseur of the Vedic literatures in a merely literary or academic sense. The sastras were to Srila Prabhupada a living, flowing continuum. As a preacher, he selected as his favorites the most important verses for discussion according to the necessity of time, place and purpose. From experience and realization Srila Prabhupada was expert in this, and he applied it continually, both in his written works and in his almost constant speaking of Krishna consciousness as he traveled from country to country. It is very difficult to take a single verse and frame it and hang it on the wall as ‘the most important Vedic verse according to Srila Prabhupada.’ Prabhupada’s ‘most important’ was always preaching itself, glorifying Krishna in pure devotion and extending his mercy to whomever he met.”

It turns out urban, suburban and rural ecosystems are loaded with unnoticed wild foods and herbs. Overlooked as "weeds," these are the same shoots, greens, roots, fruits, berries and flowers that nourished and healed our ancestors for centuries.

New Vrndavan, USA: Work Oxen
Dear Kirtanananda Maharaja,
Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated December 30, 1973.
I was very pleased to hear your report of our cow protection program, and I had part of your letter read aloud to a group of devotees how you have one cow who will be giving 70-80 pounds a day. The cow is so wonderful and valuable in society. But you should also use the bulls by engaging them in tilling the ground. People may call this the primitive way but it is very practical for engaging the bulls – have them work in cart loading, transporting, etc…
Hope this meets you in good health.
Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami• Email to a friend • •

All thisbelongs to you: on the other hand,I planted the seeds, I watched the first shootslike wings tearing the soil, and it was my heartbroken by the blight, the black spot so quicklymultiplying in the rows. I Had Mentioned
Toronto, Ontario
I had mentioned about and idea for a new play, something to do with an android that was cloned from a real human if that’s even possible. “The idea arose when I was walking”, I said as I confirmed it to three persons at a play practice. The most inspirational times for me, so it seems, are when I’m in the middle of a rehearsal or when I’m walking.
Oh, and it can also happen during kirtan chanting, in front of deities or while devotionally dancing. The more I think aobut it the more I realize that a light bulb can turn on in the head at almost anytime. At least I would like to believe that inspiration comes often when strolling or trekking. Reflection is deep at that time. I recall conceiving the idea of a cross country walk while I was walking. And then there’s the stayovers in Ottawa. One of my favourite routes of all is the trek along the Rideau and Ottawa Rivers and including Parliament Hill. It’s an impressive trail. It’s a well known fact that the country’s most popular Prime Minister, Trudeau, took a walk on this trail during a snow storm and got the inspiration to quit his job, which was a long reign.
I reflected on my time in Mauritius which was recent. While walking Bloor Street in mid evening, I got jacked up just thinking about the enthusiastic walkers there. Then my mind shifted to photographed images of our guru, Srila Prabhupada, walking on the boardwalk of the Beaches in Toronto in ’75. That alone inspires me to continue the promenade.
I sometimes see people depressed. Even one of our monks was feeling down the other day and I urged him, “You need some inspiration. Go for a walk.” He eventually did and felt better.

More of Teeth, Less About Feet
Mississauga, Ontario
I asked the young dentist, "Which avatar shows his prowess by displaying the teeth? I put him on pause for a few seconds until his father, who was by his side, seemed to get the answer right.
"Narasingha?" he speculated.
"Right you are," I said, confirming the extraordinary and majestic half-lion half-man image whom one can read about in the book Srimad Bhagavatam.
Bobby Bakri, the dentist who was affectionately put on the spot, thumbed-up his dad's answer, and who is well read on the story of the lion-hearted avatar who came to give protection to the child-saint Prahlad. Bobby agreed that you cannot get a better set of teeth than those of Narasingha.
It is a yearly event that a small band of us Krishna devotees visit Bobby's dental clinic for chanting, veggie prasad, juice and dialogue (after hours, of course). Bobby and father reciprocate with a kind donation towards our Festival of India event for July. Bobby went on to discuss about sharks who have their threatening teeth. He relayed that ocean fish experts say, "Even if a shark's teeth are all busted, his jaws and teeth grow back again."
It shows that sharks are rather resilient as ocean dwellers. Do note that sharks are identified as THE aquatics of the ocean. Krishna states in the Bhagavad-gita, "Amongst aquatics, I am the shark."
Now, back to the clinic. It's cozy, friendly, and as each room gets visited by our little chanting brigade we are confident that when we sing through our dentures and to room to room, the facility gets surcharged with spiritual power. Come to think of it, chanting is the supreme function of the mouth and teeth.

Srimad Bhagavatam 12.7.11-12 - An ingredients of universe and its creation.
SB 12.7.11: From the agitation of the original modes within the unmanifest material nature, the mahat-tattva arises. From the mahat-tattva comes the element false ego, which divides into three aspects. This threefold false ego further manifests as the subtle forms of perception, as the senses and as the gross sense objects. The generation of all these is called creation.
