H.G. Sankarshan das Adhikari, USA: Wednesday 6 July 2011--Jesus Christ Teaches the Bhagavad-gita Principle--and--Meaning of Not Being Materialistic

A daily broadcast of the Ultimate Self Realization Course Wednesday 6 July 2011 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, and His eternal consort, Srimati Radharani are enjoying transcendental pastimes in the topmost planet of the spiritual world, Sri Goloka Vrindavan. They are beckoning us to rejoin them. (Click on photo to see a larger image.) Our Mission: To help everyone awaken their original Krishna consciousness, which is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Such a global awakening will, in one stroke, solve all the problems of the world society bringing in a new era of unprecedented peace and prosperity for all. May that day, which the world so desperately needs, come very soon. We request you to participate in this mission by reviving your dormant Krishna consciousness and assisting us in spreading this science all over the world. Dedicated with love to ISKCON Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, our beloved spiritual master, and to you, our dear readers. Today's Thought: Jesus Christ Teaches Bhagavad-gita Principle Uploaded from Melbourne, Australia A Christian does not have to abandon Christianity to become Krishna conscious because Krishna consciousness is the perfection of Christianity. Christ expresses that perfection in Luke 22:42 when he prays, Father, not my will, but thy will be done. So if we can lay aside what we want to do and simply do what God wants us to do, we become perfect in spiritual life. This is exactly the same teaching that Krishna gives in the Bhagavad-gita when He tells Arjuna to abandon all other considerations and simply do what Krishna wants him to do. Christ was a perfect Vaisnava, a pure devotee of the Lord. He taught the principles of bhakti in a very elementary way suited to those to whom he was teaching. The way of Jesus is the only way: the way of complete, total surrender unto the will of God as taught by Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita. Sankarshan Das Adhikari Explaining the Perfection of Christianity Hoppers Crossing, Australia--4 July 2011 http://www.backtohome.com/images/2011-Spring/Mel_Vijay_Hm_Prg.JPG Answers According to the Vedic Version: Question: Meaning of Not Being Materialistic Gurudeva, It is said that one should not be materialistic. Does it mean we should not strive for better pay and position? Regards, P.K. Answer: Strive to Get Ahead for Krishna Not being materialistic means that all of your strivings should be offered to Krishna. In other words, you should strive for better pay and position so that you can give more financial support to the Krishna consciousness movement, not for increasing your sense gratification. Vraja Kishor, JP: Attn please, Krishna Devotees: the only important thing in the world is…

Ratha Yatra Festival in Puri, India on James F...

Image via Wikipedia

Constantly we wonder why we are not making all that much progress towards divine ecstacy and divine love. 99 times out of 100 it is because we don’t have a clear understanding of the correct path to spiritual progress. The path of Bhakti is exceedingly SIMPLE. This is it:

Sriman Mahaprabhu used to live in Jagannath Puri as a very strict sanyassi. Each year his old friends from his home town, Navadvip Mayapur, used to visit him for several months during the time surrounding the Ratha-Yatra celebration. It was always difficult to leave at the end of that time. They would spend a long time in goodbyes. Without fail many devotees would ask, “We are housholders, we are not strict like you. How can we attain Krsna?”

Three years in a row the Bengali devotees asked this to Mahaprabhu while saying goodbye. Three years in a row Mahaprabhu gave the same answer, with a slight variation each time on the followup question.

The answer always was: NAMA-SANKIRTANA.

Sankirtana is not japa, it is sankirtana. It means music, singing, and other people if possible. This is the MOST important, most powerful practice. Nothing else, no other spiritual practice even comes CLOSE.

However the Nama, (Krsna’s name) takes offenses and withholds himself from the heart of the offender. Therefore Mahaprabhu always said, “Nama-Sankirtana & Vaishnava Seva.”

The most serious offense to Krsna-nama is Vaishnava-ninda – ill feelings and expressions towards a Vaishnava. Therefore Mahaprabhu advised that along with Nama-Sankirtan one must also do Vaishnava seva (service to Vaishnavas, helping them, assisting them, etc.) – as a proactive measure to counteract and avoid offending them.

Each year the Bengali devotees asked a followup question – “OK, but who is a Vaishnava?”

The first year Mahaprabhu said, “If I hear someone say ‘Krsna’, I take that person to be a Vaishnava.” The import here is that ANYONE who even very casually chants Krsna-nama is to be served, assisted, loved, etc. This will allow us to open our hearts and receive the power of Krsna-Nama-Sankirtana.

The second year, answering the same question, Mahaprabhu said, “An even better Vaishnava is one who carefully cultivates the chanting of Krsna’s name.” Serving and respecting such persons will even more powerfully open our hearts to the unlimited prema-power inside Krsna-Nama-Sankirtana.

The third year, again answering the same question, Mahaprabhu said, “The best Vaishnava is one whose presence inspires others to chant Krsna-nama.” To serve and honor these persons is the most powerful and important way to make our hearts fully receptive to the prema-dhana (treasure of divine love) within the Krsna-Nama-Sankirtana.

Besides this, there is nothing important.

It doesn’t matter if you live in or out of a temple, as a renunciate or a sense gratifier, elevated or fallen, a sinner or a saint. There is no question of being “fallen” or not fallen. Nothing matters. What matters ONLY is that we become more and more greedy and starving to find each and every opportunity to dive into Krsna-Nama-Sankirtan with full abandon, loss of self-consciousness, and respectful enthusiasm while constantly offering all respect and services towards those who do and inspire Krsna-Nama-Sankirtana and NEVER EVER allowing ourselves to entertain any malice towards ANY such person.

Japa Group: Why Do We Chant?

An important question and one which faces most of us in our daily struggle for good Japa. Do we chant Japa just because we know we should? Or is it just something we do each and that the mind has gotten used to....or do we chant because we feel the Lord's energy and attain pleasure from reciting the Holy names.

Hopefully it will be the last....and if it's not, then we need to change something and chant in a way that we feel the Lord and his spiritual energy.

Let's put mechanical chanting behind us, let us pronounce each word very carefully and let us hear the words very carefully - after all the Lord has descended as the sound vibration of the Hare Krsna mantra. Let us chant with devotion by following the basic instructions given to us by Srila Prabhupada.

Akrura das, Gita Coaching: LEARN TO TAKE THE STEPS TO BEATING THE ODDS AND CREATING EXTRAORDINARY LIFE OF SPIRITUAL WEALTH & HAPPINESS …

I feel so confident this program can help you. I’m going to share with you each of the 10 themes you can master as a client. (Hopefully you’ll join me and see for yourself.) br>
• Be trained to see possibilities where no none else does (not talking about wearing rose-colored glasses but about real evaluations that can massively change your life);

• Determine your ‘Right Livelihood’ (your priorities may be different from others);

• Discover the opportunities that others leave on the table (once you learn how to do this, you’ll easily be able to determine which opportunities are best for you);

• Re-define ‘security’ the way successful people do (all prosperous people take a leap of faith);

• Learn the most important key to changing the tides of success in your direction (this one is so basic, yet so ignored, you won’t believe it);

• Focus your energy where it will pay dividends (and learn how to stop feeling guilty about it);

• Forgive your past money mistakes once and for all (with this process you can breakthrough to the other side);

• Explore how your integrity determines your success (…or how it sabotages it);

• Master the timing of the goals that finally make a difference (failing to plan is planning to fail);

• Recognize how being YOU (not someone you’re not) is enough to make you prosper.

I look forward to assisting you in making 2011 the best year of your life … REALLY!

Bharatavarsa.net: Book distribution seminar: Book ditribution in the land of Dharma

Once one of our devotees in India -- Nitai Prabhu -- was trying to distribute a Krsna Book. But the man was reluctant and gave many excuses for not taking the book. Finally he said that he would purchase it next time. A man seated opposite him heard the conversation, and afterward the man said to the person refusing to buy a book, "You should take it; it's a very nice book. I've bought this book and completed reading it." When he heard this, the person who had refused to buy the book readily bought it. In this way, we often we meet people who appreciate our books.

Most surprising for us is that almost every day at least one Muslim will buy a book. In fact, the Muslims are often more respectful to us than many Hindus! Once a Muslim boy with a beard and a typical round cap purchased an English-language Ramayana from me. He also wanted a Krsna Book, but unfortunately I didn't have one with me. Once a Muslim man purchased from me a Gujarati Krsna Book and a Bhagavad-gita As It Is. I'm sure Srila Prabhupada is very pleased to know that Muslims are buying his books.

A month ago a shopkeeper called and said he wanted us to bring to his shop a poster of Krishna's universal form for him to buy. He also said we should bring a Srimad-Bhagavatam set to show him. So we went to his shop with the Bhagavatam set and poster. After purchasing the poster, he said that he would buy the First Canto and take the remaining volumes later.

This shopkeeper was a regular subscriber to the Gujarati BTG. On the back cover of the BTG there is an advertisement for Srila Prabhupada's books. (Many people order books after seeing the advertisement.) So the shopkeeper had ordered "Life Comes from Life" after reading the ad. He was very much inspired by Prabhupada's arguments defeating modern scientists, and he praised Prabhupada very highly. Before we left his shop he asked us to bring more books.

So the next day we returned to his shop with more books. He purchased a Krsna Book, "The Science of Self-realization," and "The Hare Krishna Challenge." After two days he called to say he wanted to listen to Srila Prabhupada's lectures. I asked him to come to our centre. So he came with his family and purchased Srila Prabhupada's lecture CDs in Hindi.

The next day he called me and said that when some friends of his had heard from his wife about our books and Srila Prabhupada, they came to his house, where he read to them from the First Canto. They were so inspired that they started a regular program in their area.

The next time the man called us he praised Srila Prabhupada and ISKCON very highly. He said that he had read many other so-called spiritual books, but that he found that Srila Prabhupada's books aim only at helping people develop God consciousness.

Srila Prabhupada's transcendental book distribution ki jaya!

Devadeva Mirel, Alachua, USA: GiveAway : King Arthur Flour Sourdough Set-up!

Mark this giveaway as one of my favorites! And thank you so much to King Arthur Flour for sponsoring this one. I have been having a lot of fun in the kitchen reviewing these items and am happy to offer you guys a chance to win your very own.

King Arthur Flour Crock + Sourdough Starter

First let me say that I have been a fan of King Arthur Flour for a long time. I’ve always recommended their flour because of the high quality, all naturalness (never bromated!). And ever since I ordered some cupcake liners from them, I’ve been receiving the catalog. Way better than the Anthropolgie catalog for sure!

Not just flour. Lots of amazing baking paraphernalia and interesting mixes. I do wish the ingredients were listed on those pre-mixed items because I can’t use anything eggy or gelatiny. But I did just see in Vegan Robot’s photo album a whole box of KAF goodies, so that’s hopeful! And the catalog always has recipes throughout. Thanks for sharing, KAF!

So when I contacted KAF for a giveaway and was given a choice what to give away, I went for something fun  + practical! This sourdough crock really has future vintage potential and I’ve always wanted to try my hand at sourdough making. And now you can get in on the action, too!

I’ve been busy in the kitchen feeding my sourdough starter, making sourdough focaccia, pretzels and bread. Easier than you think! Posts on those coming soon. But for now, let me tell you how you can win this adorable crock + the King Arthur Flour’s sourdough starter.

To Enter:

  • Leave a comment at the end of this post.

For additional entries (leave an additional comment for each one!):

*For extra credit:

  • Learn more about the flours, commitment to quality, and why you get so much more with King Arthur Flour. Leave a comment telling me your least favorite chemical additive found in commercial flours! Or, tell me your favorite King Arthur Flour product.

That’s a total of 9 possible entries per person! That’s too many! Take advantage of them all.

  • The contest will close at 10 am, EST, Monday July 11.
  • Winner will be notified by email + receive the prize directly from KAF
  • Open to all North American residents

Good luck. More sourdough posts coming soon!

ISKCON Toronto, Canada: Snana-Yatra Pictures!

This past Sunday, Toronto's Hare Krishna temple celebrated our annual Snana-Yatra festival. During this festival Lord Jagannatha, His brother Balarama, and His sister Subadhra are given a special abisheka (bathing ceremony). This was also the last chance to catch a final glimpse of Lord Jagannatha. Their Lordships have "mysteriously" contracted a cold while they were bathed in various substances and will be quarantined and given intensive care by their pujaris (priests) for the next two weeks.

Once they have had time to recover, they will come out of Their temple to give darshan to everyone during the Festival of India (Ratha-Yatra Festival) on July 16-17, 2011. Thier Lordships will be riding down Yonge Street on large colourful chariots pulled by Their devotees amid ecstatic chanting of the holy names! For more information please see the official Ratha-Yatra Website.

New Vrndavan, USA: A Chaitanya Bhagavata das Palace Memory

Chaitanya Bhagavata has a priest in ISKCON since the early 1990s and at at Srila Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold since the early 2006. He performs the daily worship services, conducts the Palace tours for visitors, and watches over the Palace at night to make sure nothing is amiss. Recently, he shared this story:

Two years ago, on a freezing winter day, Tripada and I were in the greenhouse redoing the molds for the pillars that decorate the Palace. Because of the frigid temperatures, no visitors had dared to venture out to the Palace for days. I was running from the greenhouse towards the Palace when to my surprise I noticed a white luxury car pull up. An American couple, dressed in black and in there mid 50’s stepped out of the car and walked into the Palace complex.

The gentlemen came over to me and said, “Sir, would you be able to give us a tour.” The gentleman with tears in his eyes proceeded to say that before his friend, a worker at the coal mines, die, he made us promise that we would come and take a tour of the Palace. I agreed, glad to give the man a tour.

They were respectful and attentive to everything I was saying. Then after we walked out of Srila Prabhupada’s bedroom I showed them the impression in clay of Prabhupada’s feet. To my surprise the gentlemen proclaimed, “Do you know why the feet of a prophet are worshiped?” As he said those words, his wife knelt by Srila Prabhupada’s feet. Her hands touching the encasement, she started praying.

He paused for a few seconds, looking at me he said, “The feet of a prophet go from village to village preaching God’s gospel.”

Devadeva Mirel, Alachua, USA: Review : The Sentient Bean

Outside The Sentient Bean

Anyone who knows my family knows we do not eat in places that serve meat. To be honest, I have been thinking about lowering the standard to include pizza places, since the oven is cooking stuff at 800 degrees and just killing it. But I’m not really sold on the idea of eating piss poor pizza just because I now have 3 kids. Would rather eat Tofurkey and grapes when traveling. Even though the Tofurkey makes my pee smell funny.

So, needless to say I was happy to make it to the Sentient Bean.

On a Saturday morning...

The Bean (as locals call it) had a good amount of customers at 9 am on Saturday morning. It is not a vegan shop but rather standard American vegetarian. In other words, they do eggs. But their bakery case was more than half full of vegan items. We purchased a bunch of quick breads and brownies–all delicious. The vegan brownie tasted so much like an Entenmann’s chocolate doughnut that I wept tears of suburban Jewish happiness.

My kids became instant fans of the smoothies (note: that is a word I hate to even type). The ones they got were fruity and sweet but they also have kinds that you mix healthy green powder into.

In the evening we returned for some wraps. The husband and kids got the quesedilla, which was a pretty standard cheese and black bean melty creation. I had the barbecue tofu wrap which was quite nice and I’ve recreated the essence of it in my own home. Yes, I loved Savannah that much that I’ve taken to replicating their sandwiches. More on that another post. Another morning, another breakfast. More baked goods to go, another smoothie (still shuddering while typing that word), home fries and Georgia peach pancakes.

I don’t have pictures of them, but they looked kind of…not good. Really. We got the vegan variety and there were no bubbles on the surface. Something about the look was just off putting. But you know what? They tasted great. Soft and light with perfectly sized peach bits inside, these pancakes made us cheery. Thanks, Bean!

Cash only?

Not accepting credit cards or checks was a reoccurring theme in Savannah. I do advise you to bring cash when visiting. Hey, see the clerks tattoo? I noticed a lot of that kind of stuff on people. Like, one guy I saw had bands like you would have on tube socks but he had them just below his elbows. And then I saw someone with just 3 big circles–kind of like peg holes–on each of his forearms. I am curious about this trend. Is this tattoo style happening everywhere or is this a Savannah thing? Do tell.

Happy to eat

The crowd at the Bean was pretty diverse. Youngish and middlish and oldish. Gay and not so gay. Hipster and regular people. I just really liked it. Honestly, it was such a good little coffee shop that I would move to Savannah in a minute just to be able to walk there on a Saturday morning and order that vegan brownie. But knowing my luck, I would move there and the place would shut down that same week. Better I stay put and just keep it at the top of my list for places that make me happy. Thankfully it is only 3.5 hours away, 5 if you are traveling with a baby.

Ananda Subramanian, Iowa, USA: Remembering Gandhi

Below are some quotes I like, by Gandhi.

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed.

God has no religion.

Hate the sin, love the sinner.

In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth.

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

Nobody can hurt me without my permission.

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.

The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.

There is nothing that wastes the body like worry, and one who has any faith in God should be ashamed to worry about anything whatsoever.

Whatever you do will be insignificant, but it is very important that you do it.

Whenever you have truth it must be given with love, or the message and the messenger will be rejected.

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

Uptown Yonge

Toronto, Ontario

I walked uptown Yonge St. It’s clean, respectable; less raunchy than the downtown.

One security guard physically picked-up a beggar to move him on outside a bank. The beggar was reluctant. I didn’t wait for an assumed “scene”. I kept moving. Other than that element I liked the place. Why?

Well, here, small businesses seem to thrive. There isn’t that franchised/chain store feel to the place. There are still a lot of little fishes (businessmen) here and I hope a big fish doesn’t come to swallow them all. Residential side streets seem to like it that way. Here, a small family business has a chance. That is, if rents don’t kill you.

Further south I saw another homeless person, a woman that makes only two). She sat under a shaded mulberry tree. The berries had spattered all over the place and I could see that she was indifferent. Sitting there coyly she asked for change. It was a contrast to the proud middle class feel of her surroundings.

“Good morning!” Said two young guys outside a fancy paintball shop. “I mean, Good afternoon!” Corrected the one after looking at his watch.

I half-turned and returned with a smile saying, “Whatever!” implying whether this or that, let there be “good”.

And you know, it was lunch hour so when I started the trek on Yonge just after being picked up at the airport, the east side had shade. That’s where I blazed a fun trail. After one o’clock with the sun’s travel, the shade moved to the west side. I then crossed the road to move under building shadows.

Whether this side or that side, as long as you move, right? Whether rich or poor as long as we are human, we take to spiritual obligations, right? Yes, as long as we are human, we don’t neglect our dharma, our spiritual side. Right?

Kirtans in Oxford, UK: Birmingham 24 hour Kirtan

A pirate from the Caribbean? Even more exotic - this is a portrait of Madhava - an increasingly popular kirtaniya from Mauritius, now living in Switzerland. He led some glorious kirtans at the Birmingham kirtan in May, which you can read about below, in an account from Diana, librarian at the Bodleian who was one of our Oxford party to the event.

Visit to Birmingham kirtan in May.

On Sunday 29th May 2011, sixteen of us from the monthly Oxford kirtan group went to join in with part of the annual 24-hour kirtan organized by ISKCON Birmingham. This event took place in the community hall of the Sri Venkatesara (Balaji) temple in Tividale, on the west side of Birmingham. We left St Giles at 9.30, returning around 7.30 but the day was so interesting that it felt like quite a short visit!

The kirtans were led by Sachinanda M. and Madhava, among others, and there seemed to be over a thousand people present. It wasn’t easy to find a space to sit on the floor, and we were all tightly packed together but I soon forgot any discomfort. The energy raised by so many people chanting was amazing, and there was a great feeling of divine presence and love which was quite overwhelming and which seemed to be shared by all. In smaller groups I’m usually inhibited about singing loudly or clapping, but on this occasion I found myself completely caught up in the general enthusiasm and able to participate fully.

After eating a delicious lunch, some of us looked around the complex of temples in what is the largest South Indian temple complex in Europe. As well as the main Sri Balaji temple which is a smaller model of the temple in Tirupati, there are temples to Shiva, Ganesh and Murugan. As visitors we were made to feel very welcome, and we saw families offering gifts of fruit which was then distributed to all those present. The temples had a very holy atmosphere, and I felt privileged to have received a glimpse of south Indian culture without actually going there! All together it was a very satisfying and inspiring day, and I hope to return next year.

Subhavilasa das ACBSP, Toronto, CA: In the News...The Boomerang effect of the 7th Goswami's Prediction

On Thursday we wrote about Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur's predictions. (click here)
In particular, we quoted Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur's words,
"Oh for that day when the fortunate English, French, Russian, German, and American people with take up banners, mrdangas, and kartalas and raise kirtan through their streets and towns."

And below you will see an article about the "boomerang" affect. Mahaprabhu's message has reached around the globe and now those same "fortunate Englishm French, Russian, German and American people" are coming back to the Land of Krishna to enthuse the local population to take up their vedic culture...just as Srila Prabhupada wanted...

  This year, Rath Yatra to get a Global Touch

Picture
VADODARA: The Jagannath rath yatra this Sunday will be almost like a global event. Around 20 students hailing from different parts of the world will join other devotees as chariots roll out. Starting from a three-year-old kid from the United States to a 26-year-old resident from Croatia, all these students, who are learning 'puranic' literature at Mayapuram 'gurukul' of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), will chant, 'Hare Rama, Hare Krishna', at the festival of joy.

"Every year, we take our students to
India tour which is like a 'tirth yatra'. This year, we took up the opportunity to come and participate in Vadodara's rath yatra which is celebrated with much fanfare," said dean of Bhakti Vedanta Academy Priti Vardhana Das, who originally hails from Czech Republic and is teaching foreign nationals from across the globe at West Bengal for the past 18 years. These kids and their parents have joined the ISKCON movement after being impressed by the learnings of Bhagwad Geeta.

"I am thrilled and getting ready to join the Rath Yatra," said 18-year-old Atulya Das, who hails from
Canary Islands, Spain, and since 11 years is part of the ISKCON movement.

Few would know that the festival of chariots is a rage even in Australia. "All main cities of Australia - be it
Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane not only house ISKCON temples but thousands of devotees also participate in the Rath Yatra there," said 14-year-old Ishan Das from Australia, who since over two years is studying at the 'gurukul'. "There are even pure vegetarian restaurants in Australia as vegetarianism is fast becoming a trend."

Interestingly, be it 14-year-old Dhananjay Das from New Zealand or 19-year-old Krishna Chaitanya Das from Brazil, all of them have learnt to sing 'harinam sankirtan' which they will also continuously perform as the procession moves in front of the Rath cart. Others like Anjana Das from Italy and Arjuna Das from Columbia are simply excited to witness bands, children dressed in traditional attire, bhajan mandalis - both on bullock carts, chariots, horses and camels passing through the bylanes of the city.

"These students also know 'manglacharan' and can easily impress anyone with their knowledge of ancient texts," added their teacher Priti Vardhana Das.

Christian Goodness

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

He mentioned it to me once before. “We are attacked by weapons of mass distraction.” Such were the words Father Kevin McGee who oversees three parishes in Saskatoon and who became our guest of honour at our Bhakti Show. Father and I were speaking after the event about “the nature of the beast” in today’s world while feasting over Prasadam (sanctified food). I consider him one of my Brahmin friends. He insists I call him Kevin.

I first met Kevin five years ago at a tourist information centre in North Battleford just after trekking a good 40 kilometres for the day. My support person, Garuda, and I were warmly treated by Kevin in his rectory in Saskatoon. We broke bread together and it felt like moments of sanctity as in the event of “The Last Supper”. I say that because after a hard push under the Prairie sun at the above mentioned distance that day it was, in fact, the last meal of the day.

He played “Good Samaritan” at a two-way score by accommodating Garuda and I for that night. We had been “roughing it” at camp-sites and then due to Kevin’s hospitality, we had it comfortable.

Back to our dialogue; we both agreed that self-centeredness was a disease and whether you feel attacked or not it’s YOU as the individual that makes the choice whether to be enslaved by it or not. I asked him what his biggest challenge is for the communities he oversees and here’s where we concurred again. “Most folk don’t try to go inward”. Distractions do persist.

Besides Father Kevin, a modest one hundred people came, a mixed group of local people, came who are teachers (Brahmins again) and some from the Hindu community. In fact our program took place in Saskatoon’s Hindu temple, which is nice that Kevin did come as our esteemed guest.

ISKCON Melbourne, AU: Today's Darsana

05/07/2011

"Lord Gaurasundara sings in a very sweet voice, Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.

Whether you are a householder or a sannyasi, constantly chant "Hari! Hari!" Do not forget this chanting, whether you are in a happy condition or a distressful one. Just fill your lips with the hari-nama."

(Sri-Nama from Gitavali).

... and just fill your eyes with the darsana of that very same Lord Gaurasundara.
