Sri Radhastami celebration in Kolkata on the 5th of September 2011 (Monday) was attended by few hundred devotees from the neighboring places of Kolkata. Few devotees from other parts of India as well as devotees from Russia and Malaysia witnessed the enthralling celebrations.

Srila Gurudev's divine Harikatha in the forenoon, maha-abhishek (bathing ceremony) of the Deity of Srimati Radharani at noon, grand Prasad distribution and evening discourses by Param-Pujyapad Srila Bharati Maharaj and Pujyapad Srila Acharya Maharaj took center-stage on the day that was fully packed with devotional action.

During His Harikatha, the present President Acharya of Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math and the life and soul of the loving members of Gaudiya community, Revered Gurudev, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj summarized the essence of the true identity and the appearance pastimes of Srimati Radharani. In His opening words He said that Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Nayananath, Srila Gurudev, Srila Prabhupad, Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur and other deities on the altar are most worshipable for all of us. If we do not regard Guru or Vaishnavas or Bhagavan, we cannot progress in this devotional path. Emphasizing on the transcendental nature of Lord's abode and His pastimes, He explained how with the limited knowledge of our senses it is impossible for the conditioned souls of this world to comprehend the Lord's activities. He then narrated the meaning of the word RADHA - She who appeared from left side of Krishna and ran towards Him being attracted by Him. She is dear-most to Sri Krishna among His other associates. Later Srila Gurudev narrated the reason for Her descent to this world and Her pastimes of appearance in the house of Vrishabhanu and Kirtida. Radharani had taken a vow that she would see Krishna only when She opens Her eyes for the first time. Hence as soon as Krishna came to Her house and touched Her, She opened Her eyes.

Srila Gurudev for a duration of one hour and 20 mins briefly narrated the pastimes of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur. Srila Gurudev emphasized the importance of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur's contribution not only to the Gaudiya devotees but to the entire world at large. Just translating Srila Thakur's literature into various languages and spreading all over the globe is the only duty for each one of us. The uncommon transcendental qualities and pastimes of Srila Thakur were vividly explained by Srila Gurudev. Arresting the miscreants like Bisikishan and others during those days was one of the many noteworthy feats of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur.
