Our Melbourne Deities adorn the Australian flag once again.
Vrindavana is indeed green and gold with its lush forests paved with touchstones.
May these Kalpa-vriksas and cintamani jems be the only wealth we hanker for
to better our service to Sri Sri Radha Ballabha, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai and Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Mayi.
Here's the slideshow of Their splendour;
we are the most fortunate devotees and servants
of the most bountiful Lords and Masters.
Srimad Bhagavatam 11.28.36 - Krsna will smash the false pride of a practicing devotee. Even in such a situation we should stay fixed in our service.
> Is there any significance to the CharDhams( Four holy Dhams) Puri, > Badrinath, Dwarka, Rameshwaram in India to Gaudiya Vaisnava Samprdaya?
No.
> As devotees might know Sri Sankaracharya had established his school of > philosophy at these four places which are predominantly worshiping the > SriKrsna/Sri Narayana as the Supreme absolute truth. Is it because Sri > Sankaracharya was a Vaisnavite inherently as an incarnation of Lord Siva > and he was there to glorify the Lord?
Sri Sankaracarya established mathas at three of these places: Badrinatha, Dwarka, and Puri. In South India he established a matha at Sringeri, which is a long way from Ramesvaram. I don't know why these four places are called "Char Dham." It could be researched, although it is not of particular significance to Gaudiyas.

The Britishers.... You go to the Parliament and Westminster Abbey. They have kept all the statues of Sir Isaac Newton and this Churchill, this.... Mean, they want to show that "It is only our nation who has produced all these intelligent persons."

These British wanted that all the big men born in their nation—all big scientists, all big philosophers, all big politicians—they are God's selected persons; therefore they must rule over the world. That was their program.

Without being self-controlled, without being disciplined, and without being fully obedient, no one can become successful in following the instructions of the spiritual master, and without doing so, no one is able to go back to Godhead.

Last Wednesday we welcomed the birth of our daughter. The circumstances were unplanned and new to us: a hospital birth after my water broke and I did not go into labor naturally. Despite being in a hospital, the birth itself was terrific. Our family is grateful to Dr. Buchanan and the nurses at Shands for assisting us during the birth. I may write up a “Birth Story” post. Or not. We’ll see. Still getting used to this baby thing. Again. Babu & Bindu : My wonderful husband holds our newest family member after a great hospital birth.
Padi & Bindu : With me all the way, Padi has been a terrific support to my entire family throughout the pregnancy, birth and post-partum care.
The two of us had to spend the night at the hospital for "observation."
The Two Matis : Big Sister helps get Little Sister dressed for going home. Beautiful knitted hat and blanket in the background by our sweet friend Barb.
Soaking up some sun after a visit to the pediatrician's office on the third day of life on the outside.
As a present to me, my lovely children raked the entire driveway of the thick, deep masses of pine needles. XOXOX
Off on a light stroll to meet Mohini at the rec center.
The next day we took another short walk to the dinosaur park, past City Hall and the Christmas tree. Did she think it was real?
The Baggy Look : Little Bindu had a great day yesterday. My milk is in, she nurses happily (although has a lazy latch owwwwie!) and had some quiet alert time.
My husband and I are incredibly overwhelmed by the kindness and warmth we’ve experienced from our friends locally. Padi has been our go-to girl for everything throughout the “ordeal” of pregnancy/changing birth venues/etc. Radhe and Mohini provided last minute child care when we had to go to the hospital. We’ve received beautiful handmade gifts from Barbara, Padi and Mohini for Baby Bindu. Hanuman & Kanch, Braj & Padi, Pishi, Mohini, Lacie & Gauranga Kishore and Adi Gopi have all signed up to bring us delicious and nutritious meals, as well as Radha and Radhe & Roy dropping yummy sweets by to soothe my sugary tongue. Also, Ram and Deeta so generously helped to try to get my body into labor by giving me an hour of massage and an hour of acupuncture, respectively. And then there was all the love and support from the mom’s and faculty at my kids’ school, especially the always encouraging /ms. Donna and Amanda, who happily had MM over for a play date during break.
Thanks to this blog, the kitchen forum and Facebook, I’ve received a ton of love from far and wide, much of it coming from NC, Alachua (okay…that’s not far at all), Canada, NJ and Colorado. XOXO
As always, my family and that of my husband continue to offer love and support to our little family and we are grateful.
Finally, I want to thank my big kids, who have shown Bindu lots of love and are really going with the new flow.
To end, please forgive me if I am not very up on email, FB, blog comments, etc. The last month of pregnancy was super hard and right now we are all in a period of adjusting.
Wishing you all a happy new year!

How does one know whether they should continue their worldly duties or give up those duties for Krsna consciousness.
Preaching is the essence
Books are the basis
Utility is the principle
Purity is the Force
Preaching is the essence, books are the basis, utility is the principle and purity is the force.
Enough said...

4:41 A.M.
I woke up by 3 A.M. this morning. I’m gradually getting better. My chest still has phlegm in it and is scratchy but it has a deep down feeling that indicate it might break up and return to normal. My legs and feet are still shaky from not being used, but I do not have a headache. I kept the lights on in my bedroom and stacked three pillows and chanted sixteen rounds in that position. Now I’m ready to get up and call Baladeva and get dressed.
Before bathing I read the section in the Krishna book called “Krishna Pleases His Devotees.” The first part of this tells of Krishna’s visit to the beautiful society girl Kubja. She had been a crooked-backed girl but Krishna had straightened her out and made her beautiful. She was actually captivated by a lust to satisfy her senses with Krishna. When Krishna desired to go to the house of Kubja He had no desire for sense gratification but on the plea of sense gratification He decided to go to her house to turn her into a pure devotee. In order to fulfill His past promise, Krishna along with Uddhava went to the house of Kubja. When He reached her house He saw that it was completely decorated in a way to excite the lusty desires of a man. This suggests that there were many nude pictures on top of which were canopies and flags embroidered with pearl necklaces along with comfortable beds and cushions and chairs. When Kubja saw that Krishna had come to visit her she immediately got up from her chair to receive Him accompanied by her many girlfriends. Without wasting time Krishna entered her bedroom while she took a bath and smeared her body with sandalwood paste. She dressed herself with nice garments, valuable jewelry ornaments and flower garlands. She then came before Krishna and sat shyly in front of Him. Krishna dragged her beside Him and made her sit by His side. She took Krishna’s lotus feet and placed them on her breasts which were burning with the blazing fire of lust. By smelling the fragrance of Krishna’s lotus feet she immediately became relieved of all lusty desires. She was thus allowed to embrace Krishna with her two arms and thus mitigate her long cherished desire to have Krishna as a visitor in her house. She asked Krishna to please stay with her for a few days, but Krishna said He could not stay. Krishna visits the material world occasionally whereas His connection with the spiritual world is eternal. After satisfying her with sweet words He returned to His place with Uddhava. There is a warning that devotees who are attracted to Krishna through conjugal love should not desire to have sense gratification by direct association with Him. In the spiritual world there are symptoms like kissing and embracing but there is no sense gratificatory process as it exists in the material world. Anyone who desires a relationship of perverted sense gratification with Krishna must be considered to be less intelligent. His mentality requires to be reformed.
Krishna next went to fulfill another promise He had made to a devotee. He had previously told Akrura that He would visit him at his home and so He did so. Akrura was delighted to see Krishna and offered Him eloquent prayers of praise. Lord Sri Krishna was very pleased by Akrura’s offering of prayers. His smile was captivating Akrura more and more. The Lord called Akrura His uncle and said He desired to be protected by him as one of his children. Krishna then asked a favor of Akrura. The Lord was very anxious to know about the sons of Pandu because at a very young age they had lost their father. Being very friendly to His devotees Krishna was very anxious to know about them and therefore He deputed Akrura to go to Hastinapura to get information of the real situation. Krishna continued to say, “I’ve heard that after the death of King Pandu, his young sons Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva along with their widowed mother have come under the charge of Dhrtarastra who is to look after them as their guardian but I’ve also heard that Dhrtarastra is not only blind from birth but also blind in his affection to his cruel son Duryodhana. The five Pandavas are the sons of King Pandu but Dhrtarastra, due to his plans and designs is not favorably disposed toward the Pandavas. Kindly go there and study how Dhrtarastra is dealing with the Pandavas. On receipt of your report I shall consider how to favor the Pandavas.” In this way the Supreme Personality of Godhead Krishna ordered Akrura to go to Hastinapura, and then He returned home accompanied by Balarama and Uddhava.
Reading the episodes of the Krishna book is all pleasing. They’re so delightful because they’re all stories and as readers we have a natural inclination with a story narration. And when the stories are about Krishna Himself and His pure devotees, that makes it topmost. There is always some danger involved and always some great festival involved and always some delight involved and beautiful descriptions of Krishna and His friends. So there is nothing better than the Krishna book and its episodes of Krishna and His friends.

I have been sitting in my chair in a daydreaming state of mind. I have been composing recipes. I have been composing all kinds of food ingredients together. I can’t remember them now. I don’t know if I would like to eat them. They would be vegetarian and offered to Krishna. It was all a daydream. A long recipe. It is because I am tired that I was thinking like this, half asleep, and putting the recipe together. It was coming from the correspondence of Charles Olsen and Frances Boldereff. It was not coming exactly from their correspondence but it was a daydream of recipes. I’m tired now and don’t know. I go downstairs to eat my meals now so that I get extra exercise in walking down the stairs. Saci-suta will read to me from Krsna book. I will take some more daydreams from the Charles Olsen book and try to make it Krishna conscious. Unless something is Krishna conscious it is wasted. You eat sin if you eat food that is not offered to Krishna. But all those wild ingredients, I’ve planned them out carefully in advance so they will be Krishna conscious.
Let go in the fullest sense and make an offering to the Lord.
The first eight people get to eat the actual recipes. The second group of eight have to starve and do not get anything to eat, but they can drink water. If the second group will get nothing to eat, come to the verge of starvation or to death, they may be given small portions of food to keep them at the survival level.
Every year I make my personal finances public. Attached is an accounting of my finances for 2010.
In this second episode of the Japa Workshop series, different participants share new realizations about their relationship with the Holy Name.
Also, Mahatma dasa and Badahari dasa continue with processes and principles to reinforce and inspire further advancement in our japa practice.
